Fernbrook Inn ( Centerville )
The Fernbrook Inn was built in 1881 as a private summer estate. It is one of the finest examples of Queen Anne shingle style on Cape Cod. Frederick Law Olmstead, better known as the "Father of American Landscape", planned all the landscaping for this elegant country estate. Olmstead was renowned for his design of Central Park in Manhattan. Today, guests of Fernbrook Inn can view his exotic plantings and stroll through his sunken rose gardens.
Famous owners of Fernbrook included Herbert Kalmus, the inventor of Technicolor and Cardinal Francis Spellman of New York City. Two American Presidents and notable Hollywood luminaries such as Walt Disney and Gloria Swanson chose Fernbrook for their summer destination.
