Rockport is a small seaport one hour north of Boston at the end of Route 128. (Take route 127 from Gloucester until you see our sign in Pigeon Cove) Most famous as an art colony, the town was a major granite shipper until the depression closed the quarries. Today, vacationers sunbathe on the rocks and beaches, take walks through the woods or along the shore, or watch the whales from boats out of Rockport or Gloucester. The Rockport Golf Club has a fine nine hole course about three miles from the Emerson, and there are tennis courts less than a mile from the inn.

The Emerson is open year-round. Although the town is "dry," you may drink anywhere on the premises. We cannot sell drinks, but there is a package store about two miles from the inn. As you will notice in the brochure, we are a traditional country inn. Half of our rooms face the Ocean, and our top floor suite has a balcony with a truly spectacular Ocean view. Although we are easy to reach by car, Rockport also has good rail service from North Station in Boston.
